Halloween isn't celebrated as widely here in Costa Rica as it is in the U.S. There are some who decorate, but trick or treating isn't really a thing in the local towns.  The kids were upset at first, but as with everything this year, they adjusted amazingly fast. We were invited to halloween celebrations at two separate eco-communities.  The first was a "non-traditional" celebration where all costumes were hand made and the treats at houses were home made as well. I'm going to be honest, it was some of the most delicious goodies I've had on a halloween. We decided on a zombie theme.. you know, you can zombify anything:) We went hunting for thrift store finds, thinking maybe of a beach zombie theme.. what we found was a whole lot of red .. and zombie lifeguards we became. With some white duct tape and white paint, we made it happen.

We also ended up at a super fun trunk or treat. Our very first one;) I think we did a pretty good job of it.

Overall it was different and we were grateful for it. Kids had a blast, we put the effort in for a family costume, the first ever. There wasn’t as much candy and the kids were having too much fun to notice. For the win.
